White Glint has to be one of the coolest looking mechs Ive ever seen, Spirit of Motherwill(the giant aircraft carrier/battleship) is awesome too. Just like one of the best opening movies Ive ever seen.
Fiona is the operator of white glint, not its pilot. The pilot is the main character (you) from armored core 4. Check out the armored core wiki entry for "operators" for more information.
it takes place ten years after the events in ac4.the pilot of white glint is the one we played in ac4 and fiona, the woman we took orders from, is glints mission operator.
@luisdez81 AC doesn't need aerodynamics btw...It doesn't 'fly' like an aircraft. It doesn't need to go forward first before it can turn lol. That poor raptor does. :9
@Syfa Nothing about an Armored Core (like White Glint) violates basic physics. If you want to argue that a large (30ft to 50ft) is impractical and won't be used because of practicality or economics, that's a totally different argument. I personally feel (and have said before on this vid) that a 50ft tall, fusion-powered, artificial-muscle-utilizing mecha would be an extremely powerful weapon in ANY environment.
As far as I remember, the mercenary AC pilots in the earlier AC games grouped up to an independent and called themselves "Ravens". Apparently they don't exist anymore, but Collard seems to function pretty much the same. They call themselves now "Lynx", I don't understand why, though, since I missed playing some of the AC games.
There is an upper limit on size though. Anything past about 25-30 feet tall and you're pretty much riding in a "missile magnet." The only way to avoid that problem is a really good interceptor system, or active external defenses (a-la "Primal Armor")
@DausBlaust What laws of physics does an Armored Core like White Glint actually break? A fusion-powered, artificial muscle-utilizing, cybernetically controlled mecha like an armored core is at the least feasible, if not practical. I personally believe that things like this will be built eventually, but perhaps not in our lifetimes.
ok here we go:cluster missile system, thing on its back is the vanguard overboost system(round things are fuel pods),external radiators are kojima partical generators for offensive or deffensive attacks,is piolt unknown not joshua or new female piolt like people think.the mission op. is female. hope this helps some.^.^
The White Glint's first pilot was Joshua O'Brian in AC:4 in a mission anatolia's merc kills him and that merc takes it after was redesigned into the White Glint in AC: For Answer .
@Nanovirus5995 1. Kojima reactors. Basically the futures version of a highly toxic, extremely powerful energy generator. 2.Assualt armour. Basically a massive explosion of Kojima particles that deals Heavy damage to anything without Primal armour (shields).and removes both yours and who ever it hits, primal armour.
I have the White Glint parts, did a little tinkering, and found that if speed is your thing, it is possible to build a next with infinite Overboost. Maybe not practical from a weapon loadout pov, but fun to fool around with.
You can use two at a time, and if you alternate using them, you can almost get to an overboost-like speed: Very helpful if you can't get decent boosters.
@SNoRRo that depends on the size of the nuclear reactor, im not saying you wouldn't have to develop the technology further, but the technology does exist, for instance you could use liquid nitrogen to keep it cool
I beleive thats the Primal Armor being activated. Works kinda like a barrier that cuts damage from most weapons. Like Minvoski particles from gundam, if you know what those are.
That's the manga. All characters in the games are veterans of war, or hardened mercenaries, meaning they are at least mid 20's or older. There is the caveat that we never see them in person, but that helps in some ways as well.
her names "Fiona jardefelt"by the way the AC is white glint line arks main weapon/asset shes also one of the first 4 from the beginning of the great war on anatolia and the last survivor,oh yes did i mention she destroyed anatolia single handedly (unless u help her in amored core 4)because her allies were afraid and almost certain itd mean death just sayin XD
nope, that is the activation of the assault generator. the assault generator uses your PA as and explosive weapon, but once used your Pa is gone until recharge.
yeah im sure. joshua o'brian was glints pilot but he dies from the stress of piloting glint and the last battle. remember at the end the guy said that fiona and the pilot lefted but that was another story. thats wat this is.
@MrMunchmunch21 Mechassault IS Mechwarrior. Mechwarrior is the pc sim game of Battletech and Mechassault is an arcade style third person shooter designed for consoles based on Battletech as well. Mechcommander, Living Legends, and Solaris are all also Battletech games.
I like to think that he retreated afterward. Notice when you play the mission that there are only a few AC's guarding the Motherwill compared to the opening CG. White Glint might have taken them out before bailing.
@Syfa The real issue with this is actually big size being easier to detect,, the idea of a giantic robot works only on fiction because it looks amazing, but in practice even if we have the tech to build something like that we wouldn't. The military wants powerful difficult to detect and small weapons, in fact, the soldiers and armor of the future might be microscopic, so bet your money on micro tech rather that mech.
@TIGiant No. The mechs I can understand that they use huge amounts of power to fly like the phantom II. But the Apache is designed for speed, not vertical lift. The rotor s are not made for lift and most definitely have the wrong camver for the job.
@SNoRRo yeah but what i'm saying is that we have the technology to create walking war machines now. with nuclear power we could create a large mech, i'm not saying it would be efficient, or that it would be entirely useful in it's initial stages, but the sooner we begin building them, the sooner we can begin to improve on them. i mean look at the automobile, if we would have waited till the technology was more efficient, we would still be riding horse and carriage today :P
Im a film maker and Ive been a fan of the games since they've come out... u thunk it would be a good idea to make a movie of it if i stuck to the same style as the intros. What do YOU the fans think?
1. The second missile had about a second of following distance. That leaves just enough time for the second missile to be launched when off camera. 2. I believe that was another fuel pod. 3. Well I'm sure you know this by now, but I think that was the "assault armor". Whether or not White Glint has that in-game, I do not know. I don't have the AC4. 4. Seconded.
AC4/FA are the limit that From was willing to go with speed. AC has traditionally been more about plodding and controlled boosts than flight. I'm not sure what direction they will take after V and Verdict Day, but I personally hope they go back to the style of the PSX days which had high speed boosting while not enabling easy perma-flight.
Are you sure, bluspeed? In AC4 I remember white glint coming in and helping out against those giant spider things, you can even play against him in the simulations. To me it sorta seems like we're going to play as Berlioz because his AC looks just like the one in AC4's opening.
@dude8462 It is the sequel, but does not carry too directly to the AC: 4 plot so you do not NEED to have AC:4. You will likely understand the story just fine without it.
The first AC game I played was AC2, and after I finished the Raven assessment test, I immediately went to the Options, and changed the control scheme. Why do some people think they can't do that?
@KalAllBea sorry, late :P once again :) since we are talking about the mech age, i believe we could say lots of things about tech there and i think we can safely assume that the apaches here are developed for multirole, speedily powerful could be one of that and since this is in the middle of combat being a small target could have it's own advantages, and there're many other things we could fill the blank with
@DevilMayCry0788 The problem is that in real life beyond a certain size (about 10-11 feet tall *max*) Humanoid platforms are hideously inefficient, you *cannot* get 'big' guns on them, they're impossible to armor efficiently, they have huge issues with power supplies and bits that move are *incredibly* vulnerable. 'legs' are bad for weapon platforms. Landmates from apple seed are about as big as we can get realistically, and there's still issues then because of power and armor and articulation.
Armored core was part of an exposition in Rotterdam regarding manga and mecha. pretty sweet seeying all kinds of artwork from this game. they even had the miniture models. I
This comment is right. Anatolia's Raven is the one piloting White Glint in For Answer. Joshua O'Brien is the Pilot of White Glint in AC4. Fiona Jarnefeldt is the Operator for White Glint. Think of a Spy's handler, and you won't be far wrong.
@tasm1995 there are nonetheless still many impracticalities with armored cores.....one of them being a human shaped mech....if many haven't noticed....its not exactly very efficient for anything other than to look cool =/
@DevilMayCry0788 if only physics would permit it. that would be awesome, but even if you got something that size to properly "stand" there will be very little you could do to make that thing actually effective enough to use in any form of combat, or anything for that matter.
well in the movie, they'd prob either do 1 of 2 things, either go with a sorty line that kills him/her or side with em; or they make a 3rd party charracter that just showest the action and what not
Back when I started, I was a total fucking noob. I used Codebreaker to hack infinite life. I absolutely sucked. Then a few years later I started from the first Armored Core game and worked my way up. Now I never lose a mission, and LOVE every ounce of difficulty the series offers.
{more discriptive explanation} through the second run of the story beat the defend line ark mission then you'll get the white glint parts. then you'll need to beat the white glint order match to get the white glint schematics.Note:to do the white glint order match go to free play go over to order matches then go trough the order mathes to rank 9.hope this helps people looking for the white glint stuff
There is plenty of room for Code Geass, Gundam, Robotech, Gurren Lagann, Armored Core and all the other mecha out there. Why people pick the silliest things to argue about I don't know. To each their own, all of the mecha designs from each of the universes I listed fits for that series and generally look pretty damn awesome!
@Sin526 there are also many other factors that would stop us from creating these machines...even if we had money and technology to make even one (that is actually efficient)
Both are pretty good. You won't understand too much in AC4 though, in case you didn't play at least AC3, I guess. There are direct connections between AC4 and For Answer, but the overall scenario of For Answer - besides the usual company warfare - is slightly easier to understand.
@orangecuve true an ac would run circles around a Raptor, no dissing its speed those things are crazy fast but in terms of overall mobility and maneuverability pwnage in seconds. an ac could easily snipe a f22 from kilometers away and there aint no way it can dodge.
@Syfa actually nuclear power would be perfectly plausible for something like this, the real problem is preventing a catastrophic core meltdown once the mech becomes severely damaged :P
@Directthis135 fo' reals! The story is hugely deep, and relatively complex. It wouldn't be hard to make a film on this game; it doesn't even need a fan base or past history, i tihnk it'll work extremely well on it's own
After years of searching I finally found a relatively cheap used copy of For Answer and I am so happy!
+Jace the Fox I bought a pre-owned 360 copy for 89 cent today
+Lennart Jacob nice!
White Glint has to be one of the coolest looking mechs Ive ever seen, Spirit of Motherwill(the giant aircraft carrier/battleship) is awesome too.
Just like one of the best opening movies Ive ever seen.
wow incredible quality
now if only they made an Armored Core full length movie like this
5/5
Ultra cool!!! I hope to see a sci-fi movie like this quality someday!
That is the White Glint, obtained through the "Defend Line Ark" Mission. Good luck! :3
The first 3 minutes must be the most amazing mecha video ever made, AC openings own any Transformers moments any day of the week
Fiona is the operator of white glint, not its pilot. The pilot is the main character (you) from armored core 4. Check out the armored core wiki entry for "operators" for more information.
it takes place ten years after the events in ac4.the pilot of white glint is the one we played in ac4 and fiona, the woman we took orders from, is glints mission operator.
seeing such an awesome opening movie combined with the on going story of armoured core they should make a bloody movie to be honest
@luisdez81 AC doesn't need aerodynamics btw...It doesn't 'fly' like an aircraft. It doesn't need to go forward first before it can turn lol. That poor raptor does. :9
Glint, you sexy AC..

you know it'd kick ass if they made an armored core movie....i love this series

Apparently they don't exist anymore, but Collard seems to function pretty much the same. They call themselves now "Lynx", I don't understand why, though, since I missed playing some of the AC games.
Armored Core would make an epic trilogy of movies. It would top most sci-fi movie charts in this day and age.
There is an upper limit on size though. Anything past about 25-30 feet tall and you're pretty much riding in a "missile magnet." The only way to avoid that problem is a really good interceptor system, or active external defenses (a-la "Primal Armor")

@MrShieldsz if you refer to the cg they use, it would have to be drastically reduced, due to the cost.
TOTAL EPICNESS imagine how epic would it be if this thing was a movie
it seems armored core 5 fell flat on its face compared to this. even though verdict day fixed up a bit of what went wrong.
The speed is what made AC4/4A.
5 lost the speed that made the game amazing.

The White Glint's pilot is "Anatolia's Mercenaries" aka, "Raven". The protagonist of AC4.

are those vids from the cinematics of the game?
The level of photo realism is so high!! Looks amazing. They should do a movie about this!!
well it comes out in australia in august, so i assume it will be out in euroope before that, we always get everything last :(
Ahh I see. No harm done. You can get the english version off amazon for cheap I believe, though the shipping rates will vary depending on country.
@KalAllBea
since we are applying the mech logic here
we can assume that the apaches here are that much advance/powerful as well? :P
@SNoRRo i could be wrong, but i was under the understanding that cold fusion is still a thing of science fiction
I beleive thats the Primal Armor being activated. Works kinda like a barrier that cuts damage from most weapons. Like Minvoski particles from gundam, if you know what those are.

As a 3D animator...I can only imagine how long it took to texture that AC...*shudders*
good luck, honistly to get a copy of ' for answer' it took me 6 months of looking in the pre-owned section of games shops

@nagasako7 If you mount a gun on your right arm and a ligther or no gun on the left arm the stabilizers can balance your mecha
Ugh, I spent hours playing this game and getting every last damn single player achievement....
Totally worth it. Damn good game.
@afuturesoldier
There are also fights against other Armored Cores and similar mecha.
Armored core was part of an exposition in Rotterdam regarding manga and mecha.
pretty sweet seeying all kinds of artwork from this game.

@Syfa haha yeah. the most realistic cores you're ever going to see will probably be tank legged with weapon arms... and no boosting. : /
I'm trying to imagine the conditioning a pilot would have to go through to pilot a NEXT like that.
They should make an Armored Core anime. Seriously.
@tasm1995 there are nonetheless still many impracticalities with armored cores.....one of them being a human shaped mech....if many haven't noticed....its not exactly very efficient for anything other than to look cool =/
@Syfa but with our advances in tech we will soon beable to have cores on the battle feild, and mebey even robo cores to take place of the man power
I have yet to play the game but perhaps the phrase child soldier comes into play here? Not sure, but it's a possible explanation for it
Are you sure?? It's pretty small. And it was inside something, it wasn't just attached to the AC.
@DevilMayCry0788 if only physics would permit it. that would be awesome, but even if you got something that size to properly "stand" there will be very little you could do to make that thing actually effective enough to use in any form of combat, or anything for that matter.
That is usually some Automaton ball that fires REALLY strong lasers. I faced a few last night at my friends.
@luisdez81 I forgot something: They DO have a powersource, called Kojima particles...
well in the movie, they'd prob either do 1 of 2 things, either go with a sorty line that kills him/her or side with em; or they make a 3rd party charracter that just showest the action and what not
Back when I started, I was a total fucking noob. I used Codebreaker to hack infinite life. I absolutely sucked.

@TIGiant Correction, Skycrane. WTF did Dragonfly come from?
How come I didn't know about this till know!!! That looks awesome!!!!
the best person to have on ur side and the most feared to have against you White Glint!!
@Shurryy i hope all the mech games releasing this year do well.
when it tells you you don't have the parts, it should give you the option of buying all the parts you need automaticaly in one go.
There is plenty of room for Code Geass, Gundam, Robotech, Gurren Lagann, Armored Core and all the other mecha out there. Why people pick the silliest things to argue about I don't know. In the original AC4, White Glint's pilot was Joshua O'Brien. What happened in for answer?
@halosky258 armored core 5 is but there only the japanese demo for the ps3/xbox 360
@Directthis135 exactly dude! but i cant imagine the money that gonna be spend to make this movie special effects 3D,4D effects are real expensive!
ROFL oh man i can only imagine how scared I'd be if i were to even see something the size of that huge behemoth looking... whatever that thing is.
even though i'd LOVE to see the new anime for this series to come out, I think a show with these graphics, even a 2 hour movie would be EVEN BETTER.
aww man they should have it would have been awesome. and what's front tower song?
@rockzone16 4D...? I guess making effects from a different dimension must be expensive >.>
White Glint is in AC4. But with a very different design. Supposedly the White Glint in AC4FA has a diffrent pilot.
@KalAllBea
but saying more might become very fictionish, even though we're talking about exactly the fiction XD
so i'll just stop it right here :D
hmm i wonder what the relation ship with this white glint and the old one
@Directthis135 fo' reals! The story is hugely deep, and relatively complex. It wouldn't be hard to make a film on this game; it doesn't even need a fan base or past history, i tihnk it'll work extremely well on it's own
6:31
I remember linking the ps1 via cable and having battles on seperate screens. i dont see how AC doesnt have a larger following.
@kraklovich i think its white glint but i dont remeber it very well but i think it was in gundam series :( but that was good fail though
I think the militarys weapons devolpment teams should play this and start making one cuz if they need a pilot ill do it
So this is what you get when you add a massive battle ship to a few set of legs.
This PV is so cool! But I'm sad because some character voice is not used X(
